annoyed beyond belief!

Shaun and I decided that to wait on telling his side of the family about the engagement until the glow of his sister’s engagement had worn off a little bit.

His sister, who hasn’t been married before, got engaged at Disneyland the same weekend that Shaun asked me.
Shaun and I being the unselfish lot that we are decided to let her have her time before we busted it up with our good news.

Like the dolt I am, I sent out a mass email to the people in my address book which included Shaun’s ex-wife. She already knew about it, but I added her anyway…along with 40 other people I was too lazy to call.
Like the dolt that she is, she forwarded the email to Shaun’s sister.
After I got over the urge to beat the hell out of his ex, I talked to his sister and she was so cool about it. She insisted we needed to tell the other family members.
We decided that we would tell his parents on Sunday when we went out there. It’s better to do cool stuff like this in person because I get hugs. I love hugs.

Shaun told me that his brother had called him because he went to our Flickr site and saw the picture of my ring.
We told him why we had not said anything and he said congrats and all that other stuff. Then they talked about surround sound and HiDef tv’s.

Tomorrow we go out and tell his parents. I hope this goes better than the first time a set of parents were told about future nuptials:

“What? You have GOT to be kidding, Daniel! YOU TOLD US THAT SHE WAS A PHASE YOU WERE GOING THROUGH! You said you weren’t serious about her! MY GOD she’s not even old enough to legally drink!”

Yeah, I’m pretty sure this one will go so much better.
