Week 4

Last month I convinced my friend from work, Victoria to start the couch to 5k running program. I promised her I would do the whole thing with her. She promised me she wouldn’t miss a day…and she hasn’t.
The first day she struggled through the running and apologized for sounding like a moose. She made it through the first week and was so proud of herself.
In week two I drove around until I found some hills. She did good and even though we both had a hard time the second day of the second week, we followed it up with a 4 mile hike.
The third week she was really worried she wouldn’t be able to run for the whole 3 minutes, but when she did she even more proud of herself. She called me later in the day and thanked me for sticking with her through this.
Today we started week 4 and she was REALLY nervous she wouldn’t be able to do the whole 5 minutes of running (twice). I added three more hills onto her route and had her power up them. When she finished it was the look of accomplishment that nearly brought me to tears.

I can’t put to words how incredibly proud I am of her for never missing a day. I am proud of myself for driving back to Sacramento from Redding so I wouldn’t miss running with her either.

As we rounded the corner to the three added hills she yelled up to me, “I HATE YOU!” I giggled because she has no idea what I am going to do to her next. She’s going to run the Rocklin hills with me on Wednesday. Bwhahahha.

I even got her to sign up for the Merrell Mud Run where I will run with her and make her laugh and be so grateful she started this mission. No one can take this away from her.
