Going on Two Months
Following the leads we found in the paper we headed out to a small town called Dutch Flats. It was a ‘don’t blink or you’ll miss it’ type of town.
It was one of the friendliest towns i’ve ever been too. It’s also one of the scariest. No Starbucks for MILES AND MILES. *shivering*
The first step in our plan of action is scoping out the place. After we get home we go over all the pictures taken from the car and all the places we jotted down as ‘potential’ place to check. We have promised our loved ones (and the internet) that we won’t go anywhere too freaky, without letting anyone know where we are, full tank of gas, cell phone reception…and so on. The next time out we know where we are going to look…and we bring Shaun.
I couldn’t resist this old cemetery in the middle of town. The road went up this long, winding hill that was covered in pine needles. It looked as if no one had ever driven the road.
The markers went back to the early 1800’s and some of the headstones were made of wood.
As we were leaving the cemetery we saw a man walking down the road. He waved and walked on. ‘Cita and I were like little girls trying to scramble in the car first.
When I got home and showed Shaun the pictures his eyebrows crawled into his hairline.
“Kristine! WILL YOU PLEASE WAIT FOR ME? I have every Friday off, I will go with you to look for Christie.”
I tried to reassure him that it wasn’t as bad as it looked from the pictures.
“You said you heard dogs howling at the cemetery and walking down the road was the old man from ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ Yeah, it’s not that bad huh?”
Okay, he has a point.
