Random and Odd

There are some things that no one teaches you, love.

Holy fucking book streak!   I know that at this point last year I had read more books than I have at this point in the year.
I’m on book 195 and to say I have read some outstanding books this year (so far) would be a wild understatement.

Into the Blue by Emma Brodie was a 5 star read that I am still thinking about it and I read it months ago.   I can’t even give a description in fear of ruining it.
Whistler by Ann Pratchett is a book I will NEVER forget and love forever.  So far the two books I have read of hers were like DNA changing good.  The first book I read of hers was Tom Lake and I was drawn in because it had been narrated by Meryl Streep and then the next thing I knew I didn’t want to leave this world she had weaved for us.  I related to the daughter aspect of it, having 3 of my own.
I have 2 books by Fredrik Bachman that are 5 star reads,  Anxious People and My Friends.

I told myself this was the year that I would slow down on my reading.  I was doing really well until last month where it felt like every book I picked up was so damn good that I didn’t want to loose that  streak.   I read a 7 book series in less than a week and I almost cried that I have to wait for the next two.  The Unselected Journals of Emma M Lion is one of those series where you’re expecting crazy shit to happen and it doesn’t and you think that maybe it would be better if it did, but at the end of the book you’re glad it wasn’t over the top.

You would think I was entertainment starved, but I’m not.  I am getting selective of what I read and the next up is Emily  Wilson’s adaptation of Homer’s Oddessy and then Circe and Song of Archilles by Madeline Miller.  I have 2 more months to see The Odyssey on IMAX and I am not going to miss out on it.

I have dinner with friends once a week, I have my writing group/class and I read, read, read and read some more….BUT, I am also excited for Season 2 of Heated Rivalry (yes, based on a series of books)  and Off Campus (another book series)  and I read that they are going to an adaptation of Windy City (yes, another series)

I’m doing okay right now. It’s getting better.
