As a part of the 2013-Living the Dash tour, I’ve decided there is a few things I would like to do.
I am putting together a hike in the Harper’s Ferry or Shenandoah Valley portion of the Appalachian Trail in Virginia/West Virginia.
There is a 63 mile portion that I want to do, but I have to take into consideration the people that are going and the time restraints we have. I want to see the fall leaves so I want to go in September/October.
New York can wait. I want to hike the Appalachian Trail in 2013.

I have driven the entire Appalachian road and walked on some of the Appalachian trail. It is not that exciting. There are so many trees that you can’t see anything, like pretty views. There are no stores around, so if you need anything, you have to drive a long way to a town and the roads really wind and you have to go slow. There are a lot of bugs and mosquitos too.
OMG…that sounds like HEAVEN!!!
By bugs, they were little flying bugs, let me explain. We stopped to camp. We got out of our car to set up the tent. Then about a millions bugs swarmed around our head and body and they big. Where ever you go, they follow. We had to leave, it was so bad. Just don’t stop by water, there was a creek nearby.
I mean’t they bit, not big, type error.
ahh. I read about those on the trail. What part of the trail were you on? what state?
