I get these cryptic emails from Tabitha ever so often. I pull out my Secret Decoder ring and try to figure out what she’s saying. Today I get one with finishing times for a race. I am pretty sure she’s saying, “step up the game, we need to do it in an hour.” because yesterday we ran the course and our time wasn’t pretty, but not bad for our second training run of the year so far.
I have looked at this race before and it’s kind of like the one I am running this month, but it’s put on by a company I don’t know anything about and I want to volunteer for a race before I run it to see if I like the company that is holding it. I learned this lesson on New Years.
Anyway, I pull up the map. PLEASE, can SOMEBODY please put together an updated Western States map? That one is tired and it’s not entirely correct. The map makes it looks like there isn’t a chance of getting lost. Bullshit. Oh yeah, sorry…So I pull up the map and laugh at it because we have ran this ‘half marathon’ before, TWICE.
I read the cute description: “ Half marathoners will run on the historic Western States trail, out to no-hands bridge and will then tackle one of the toughest climbs in the area, and training grounds for top runners, the dreaded K2. The latter portion of the half marathon will join up with the 10K and 5K runners and will traverse through meadows, single track, and farmland rolling hills, making your way back to the start/finish”
So yes, Tabitha if you’re asking if we can run this half marathon next year…YES we can. If you’re saying our time sucks…Yep, I know. We are working on it.
If you’re saying ‘they are keeping me chained to my desk and feeding me nothing but gummy bears…” I got nothing.

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay YES, me being me and my immediate goal to hit a 1/2 marathon before summers end MAY have wanted to hint that we need to stop taking pictures, I need to stop feeding the beast of a growling belly…we probably shouldnt stop to try out barefooting but we didnt run it full on. What i will say if theres a snowballs chance in HELL of me not getting lost on Cronans run I want to lay down teh footwork and see what God will allow me to do! I need to hit green light. Sure next year we can try it out….but I get teh feeling we will be ready for much more. Im not sad about our time at ALL. We rock….plain and simple. We are hardcore….badass women. We seperate running from athletes and even in the early stages we appreciate the gift God gives us everytime our feet hit the ground.
But you bet…time to train…time for me to start getting down a infinte game plan I want to run from sunrise to sunset…NO DARK yet still afraid of critters creatures and the like.
No gummy bears, no beatings, just plain time to shine and run our fannies off! I love you Wifey

Check this one out. It’s K2. From where we started resolution run, down to no hands up cool to K2.
NOW, that is where you decide if you want to do a half marathon or the 35k. I am looking at the map and the best part of this damn run is in in the 35k.
How about this, we cut out the first 8 and train for the rest as a 35k. up K2 and around the whole damn thing. We KNOW we can nail that first 8 miles because we have done that about 400 times now. Let’s get our time down on the last part of this as soon as our Cronan race is over? We can still have our ‘hiking’ weekends every so often, but let’s see if we can do this.
Fuck a half marathon bitch, I already know you can do that, we have done it many a time!
uhmmmmm well I do want to Fu@^ up a marathon once in my life to know I crossed it off the Ta-do :-) Im down for that though….totally down for it! Lets BUST IT!
It’s the same day as the 9/11 memorial run, so we would have to not do that one. I’m okay with it, but I know that one is close to your heart and I was just going to run it to support you. Not as important for me. If I’m going to do the 5k they are going to be the hella fun ones where I am laughing with friends and getting muddy or color thrown on me!!
My calves are TIGHT today. I got up at 5am and stretched though. Oh and sweet baby Jesus the smell did NOT come out of my Vibrams from that one last mud pit we had to go through to get back. GAG! nasty!!! I might need to wash them again!
