Baby showers, wedding showers, Open house, Back to School night. They suck.

I know people try REALLY hard to make these events fun and entertaining. I’ve never attended an event that ended in ‘shower’that turned out ‘fun’. Okay, that one time, but i’m not allowed to blog about that. They might get into politics later and THAT isn’t a story I should share.

I have to go to a baby shower tomorrow. This is worse than the Open House back in May. I can’t do stuff like this. I don’t fit in AT ALL. I went to the bridal shower and if it wasn’t for Shaun’s grandma plowing me with wine I probably would have died of an anxiety attack in the middle of her white Berber carpet.
They have those nails that are done up pretty and French. They have hair that hasn’t been in a ponytale for 3 days. They have cute shapes with back tattoos and trendy sandals. They talk about stuff you read in Cosmo or US. They buy things from Pottery Barn & Restoration Hardware.
They probably knew that Brad and Jen broke up. I’m useless in this sort of environment.

If you were to ask me stupid questions like who won the Pulitzer or how to rewire a computer I would be fine. These aren’t things I even talk to my friends in real life about. I just listen or talk about topical stuff. I’m exhausted after the whole event though. When people are talking about Angelina adopting a new baby, i’m thinking about white balance or html coding.

Am I the only person that has a hard time at functions like this? I dread going.

I am going to go though, because Shaun’s mom wants me to go and I will go because she’s the boss of me. In a good way.

Hee Hee, it will be fun to show you what i’m talking about when I say ‘perfect’ hair though. They all have matching hair. They could be in a band!
