Whoa. What a weekend!
\nI spent the week before my birthday with my mom and sister. I was spoiled each day and did my share of spoiling too.
\nMy friend, Tammy came by and spent a few hours laughing with me about stupid people. Always a blast when Tammers comes over and we can talk real talk.
\nMy sister got me a beautiful ring that I will never take off. She gets me on a level no one ever can.<\/p>\n
So, my birthday. Holy shit.
\nSam and Matt got here Friday and we started drinking. 4 hours later I was DONE. \u00a0It has been wayyyyy too long since I had drank and I was certain I would wake up with a hangover, but I didn’t.
\nThe whole plan for the weekend was to just hang out and BBQ with the 4 of us. \u00a0Well, one of my running\/hockey friends asked what we were doing. Another runner\/hockey friend insisted that it really didn’t matter because they were going to crash it.
\nSaturday morning I get a text from another friend asking what kind of cake I wanted and that they were bringing another couple with them…see us at 6. \u00a0Uh. shit. Totally unprepared for more than just 3 other people, but alright.
\nThen another text; “We need your address.”
\nFuck.
\nThis was going to be a party.
\nI decided around noon to just give in and invite a couple other couples over. I didn’t want anyone to feel left out.
\nBy 7pm our home was over run by hockey\/running group friends, much beer, a My Little Pony cake and so much food.<\/p>\n
The next morning after I had cleaned up the mess and Lester came out with his coffee cup I said, “We couldn’t have planned that if we tried. We could have had a personal messenger hand\u00a0deliver invitations and that many people wouldn’t have showed up.”
\nIt was amazing this wonderful turn out of great friends who just wanted to come and hang out. At last count we had about 20 adults and so many children.
\nI am blessed with a great group of wonderful people who not only love me, but love Lester with all their heart. They are OUR friends.<\/p>\n
A couple of the women play hockey and since Lester got me gloves they are certain that I will soon be on a team. I told them that I am just enjoying playing around after work…but if I did I would start a team called “Shots and Giggles”. All of them said they wanted to join the team! \u00a0It wasn’t enough that I started a running team, but now a hockey team. No way. I can’t keep up with putting together all our runs and the influx of emails I am getting from running companies asking our team to join certain races. \u00a0It’s flattering, but our calendar is almost full already!! I was tempted to take April off, but I promised to help volunteer for Rocklin and 2 other runs and the whole month of May is booked with races. \u00a0Oh, I also became the official photographer for a running company. In return, I get free race entry fees.<\/p>\n
