Shaun here.\u00a0 So I’m driving home from work today at the coal mine, listening to sports talk on the radio (no, I couldn’t be studlier).\u00a0 Then I hear it<\/em>.\u00a0 I get a cold chill like you get when someone scrapes a fork between their teeth.\u00a0 I let it<\/em> go.\u00a0 Then it comes again, and again.\u00a0 Now I can’t stop hearing it<\/em>, and it’s driving me effing crazy.<\/p>\n

“It is what it is.”<\/p>\n

This statement <\/em>had to have started from a coach or an athlete.\u00a0 No one else would lack the ability to elaborate or expand on a topic. It’s saying something but meaning nothing. USA Today called this saying the best new cliche of 2004.\u00a0 Seriously, USA Today actually monitors this stuff, which is scary in itself.\u00a0 Now, this damn thing is everywhere. Yes, I heard it on….dear God….CNN.\u00a0 Unbeleivable.\u00a0 Now the idiot pandemic is here.\u00a0 We all need shots ASAP.<\/p>\n

“Coach, how do you explain the three game losing streak after starting the season so well?”<\/em><\/p>\n

“It is what it is”<\/em><\/p>\n

What is it?\u00a0 And what does that mean?\u00a0 Can we really be so stupid and lazy that this is acceptable?\u00a0 There is no question to which this answer works, yet it can answer almost anything badly.\u00a0 If anyone asks you anything in any way difficult, it’s there for you like a fast-food vocabulary.<\/p>\n

“You, in the back row.\u00a0 How does this economic theory relate to post-Cold War Russia?”\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

“Well, professor…….it is what it is.”<\/em><\/p>\n
